Understand your development's whole life carbon impact.
Whole life carbon refers to the carbon impacts over the entire life cycle of a built asset, from the raw materials used in construction through to its end of life. A whole life carbon assessment (WLCA) involves calculating and reporting the carbon impacts anticipated across all stages of a project's life cycle. It also includes evaluating the potential benefits and impacts that occur beyond the defined system boundary. Â
Our specialised team possesses a wealth of experience, bringing in depth knowledge and proven expertise to every project, ensuring that environmental goals are met at every stage.
Our team is skilled in coordinating with all stakeholders involved, including local planning authorities, architects, and M&E designers, to meet client objectives and align with regulatory requirements.
We deliver expert advice that is precise and mindful of cost-efficiency, ensuring clients get the best value while maintaining high standards.
We offer a multidisciplinary approach, providing a one-stop solution that minimises project complexity, streamlines deliverables, and ensures robust and coordinated sustainability outcomes.Â
Our team of highly experienced assessors specialises in evaluating the Whole Life Emissions of your building, considering both its construction and operational phases throughout its entire lifecycle. In addition to our Whole Life Carbon services, we offer a wide range of complementary solutions to ensure your project meets its sustainability goals. With our expertise and guidance, you can trust us to navigate your project toward achieving optimal environmental outcomes.
We offer many different assessments, including:Â
A Whole Life Carbon Assessment (WLCA) is a crucial process that evaluates a building’s carbon emissions throughout its entire lifecycle. We provide Whole Life Carbon Assessments to help meet your requirements, including the Greater London Authority (GLA) who sets its own guidance around Whole Life Carbon. Policy SI2 of the London Plan 2021 requires that major planning applications include a Whole Life Carbon assessment. This must show a calculation of WLC emissions and demonstrate how these emissions have been reduced throughout the planning and design phases.
Circular Economy aims to reduce waste and keep materials in use in order to entend their life cycle. We provide Circular Economy services to support sustainable resource use and waste reduction, helping projects align with circular economy principles and meet relevant environmental goals. London Plan Policy SI7, requires a Circular Economy Statement to be produced in alignment with the energy strategy and the WLCA.
We conduct Embodied Carbon Studies to assess the carbon emissions associated with the materials and construction processes of a building, helping to minimise environmental impact throughout its lifecycle.
We offer BREEAM Life Cycle Assessments and Life Cycle Costing at concept and technical stages to evaluate the environmental impact and long-term financial viability of a building project, helping to guide sustainable design and decision-making from the early stages of development.
We offer BREEAM Third Party Verification, ensuring credibility and accuracy in achieving sustainability certifications.
We are very impressed with the support and expertise that AES has provided and are delighted with the outcome of this project. They have gone above and beyond with such a challenging project, and it’s great to have access to such a range of services under one roof!
