Passivhaus

Achieve energy-efficient, sustainable buildings through the Passivhaus standard.

green building

About

The Passivhaus – or Passive House - standard is a leading building performance standard for improving energy efficiency and occupant comfort, together with reducing operational carbon emissions. Calculations are undertaken using the Passivhaus Planning Package (PHPP) energy modelling software, which delivers a more accurate measurement of real-world performance than Part L compliance software.

Passivhaus With AES

As Passivhaus Consultants, AES can support your project from Stage 1 to completion, and the earlier we can get involved the better. We will engage with the team throughout, providing guidance, design consultancy and undertaking detailed and iterative modelling using PHPP. This approach ensures the development is always on track to achieve certification.

Once the build is on-site we maintain a communicative and hands-on approach to advise and support contractors in realising the design performance, a critical element of the Passivhaus standard.

We have a focus on residential projects, with experience in designing both larger-scale multi-residential apartment buildings along with single family homes.

AES also complete operational energy modelling in PHPP as part of early design assessment, whole-life carbon analysis, and in support of planning applications. This enables assessment of the design against space heating demand targets, total energy requirements (Energy Use Intensity or EUI) or a net zero target, all standards which are increasingly required through planning policies and funding requirements.
