Following successful collaboration to deliver the BREEAM assessment at Buckler's Lodge Care Home, an 80 bed Care Home in Berkshire, AES were engaged for our latest project with Halebourne Group.
Portsdown View Care Home, Hampshire, is an impressive 71-bedroom care facility providing state of the art facilities for their residents. The Care Home is within a wider development of 354 new homes on a 13-hectare greenfield site. To meet local planning requirements and their own high-quality construction ambitions, the client required Portsdown View Care Home to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating.
AES were involved from the outset of the project which enabled the highest sustainability outcomes, supported by our expert BREEAM AP's. Our involvement included completing a pre-assessment followed by a design stage assessment, leading to interim certificate. A post construction review resulted in final certification. AES facilitated the assessment process, providing the required support to the project team for a successful outcome.
With guidance from AES and BREEAM AP involvement from Concept Design, the client achieved their goal of a BREEAM Excellent rating, complying with the local planning requirements and meeting their high level of sustainability ambition.
The desired BREEAM Excellent rating was achieved at the final certification stage, with contingency. In this project, we achieved 75% of responsible sourcing credits and ensured thermal comfort in the projected climate change environment. The Care Home achieved forward thinking and impressive sustainability outcomes. The BREEAM process supported improved efficiencies within the building, improved levels of comfort and well-being for residents and reduced the environmental impacts of construction.
