Cambridge Housing Society (CHS) is a social enterprise and charitable housing association with assets totalling £263 million, and who provide homes to 7,000 residents. McBains and AES were appointed to produce a net zero carbon investment plan, for all properties to be decarbonised by 2045, and to achieve EPC C across the stock by 2030.
We completed a detailed review of classes of properties, based on specific construction traits, which were then grouped into ten archetypes. In depth surveys were then undertaken and recommended improvement measures identified.
Cambridge Housing Society have 3,000 homes and provide housing to 7,000+ residents.
We reviewed all stock in detail as a desktop analysis exercise, then completed initial site surveys to determine eligibility.
We produced and submitted a successful WH:SHF Delivery (previously SHDF) Wave 2.2 bid to attract funding.
We are delivering retrofit assessments, coordination, design and QS services for delivery of this project. A fully managed end-to-end SHDF/PAS 2035 service.
Our involvement facilitated a subsequent application for SHDF Wave 2.2 funding, which was successfully granted in 2024. AES and McBains are now appointed by the client to deliver retrofit assessment, coordination, and design roles for the delivery of the SHDF retrofit programme in accordance with PAS 2035. This project is nearing completion, and the client is extremely happy with the delivery.
