Who Are We?

AES Compliance & Testing Ltd are best known for air tightness testing in the new build sector, we also offer other on-site services including sound insulation testing, ventilation testing, and thermography surveys in residential, non-residential and existing building sector.

We are looking for a motivated and reliable Trainee Air Tightness Test Engineer to join our expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, travelling to different locations, and developing a career in the construction and building performance industry.

No previous air tightness testing experience is required – full training will be provided. You will work alongside an experienced Air Tightness Test Engineer, gaining hands-on experience while working towards your ATTMA Level 1 Air Tightness Tester qualification.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated, capable of delivering high quality testing services. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building effective working relationships with colleagues and clients. Good attention to detail is essential as the role requires a high degree of accuracy and organisational skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Travel to construction sites and existing buildings, carrying out air tightness tests on a range of building types and sizes in conjunction with building regulations to ensure our clients achieve compliance with Part L

  • Active engagement with the client to ensure the plot/s are ready for testing

  • Focus on tasks assigned and manage workload effectively

  • Identifying air leakage paths and notifying site personnel

  • Completing accurate air tightness tests to the relevant test standard, and uploading in a timely manner

  • Maintain company equipment including company van

  • Always display a professional attitude, demonstrating the ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and clients

  • Be an active member of the team, contributing ideas and sharing knowledge

  • Take a proactive approach to learning and development

Key Competencies

Essential

  • Comfortable driving long distances and travelling to sites across a wide geographical area, sometimes involving overnight stays

  • Ability to complete physical work (moving test equipment around site)

  • Able to communicate with clients effectively and confidently via telephone, email and face-to-face

  • Excellent written communication skills

  • Client-focused with a commitment to providing high-quality support

  • Excellent computer skills and a good level of general education, particularly in Maths and English

  • Calculating envelope areas of properties on site

  • Ability to self-manage a busy and time-critical schedule of work, sometimes with short notice changes to priorities

  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Health and Safety awareness

  • Hold a full/clean driving licence

Desirable

  • This position would suit someone with experience in construction, surveying, engineering, or building services, but we also welcome applicants looking to start a new career with full training provided.
